Ignoring the now

So basically the girl is Rebecca. She's an autistic and unwanted little eight year old girl. Her young mother hangs herself and the Rebecca goes into a shock/stress induced hallucinative state for three days and ends up falling off a dresser and dying. The thing behind her is Becky, a representation of her mother that Rebecca hallucinates.
